About the Appalachian Studies Program

The Appalachian Studies Program is an academic program supporting teaching, research, and service on issues pertaining to Appalachia and its relationship to processes of globalization. The Appalachian Studies minor provides students with the opportunity to study complex social, political, economic, and environmental issues important to the region and the cultures within it from a number of disciplinary perspectives.
