Faculty in the Popular Culture Minor
- Dr. Ananda Abeysekara, Associate Professor of Religion, studies both popular Asian religious movements and religious violence.
- Dr. Kwame Harrison, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Africana Studies, is an anthropologist who studies independent hip hop movements and teaches courses on the sociology of culture.
- Dr. Humberto Rodríguez-Camilloni, Professor of Architecture, offers insight into the popular-cultural status and works of Frank Lloyd Wright.
- Dr. Neal King, Associate Professor of Sociology, provides scholarship on film violence and the various public and scientific debates about it.
- Dr. Nancy McGehee, Associate Professor of Hospitality and Tourism, studies and teaches on the cultural impact of tourism industries.
- Dr.
Paulo S. Polanah, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies, teaches courses on Black Aesthetics (especially in film) and researches the cultivation of "African" culture as Western commodity.
- Dr. Stephen Prince, Professor of Communication Studies and past president of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, is coordinator of the minor in Film Studies and a widely noted scholar of film.
- Dr. Michael Saffle , Professor of Religion and Culture, studiesand teaches musicology and uses of music in film.
- Dr. Emily Satterwhite, Assistant Professor of Religion and Culture, teaches Introduction to American Studies and researches the construction of whiteness and "Appalachia" in American fiction.
- Dr. J.D. Stahl, Professor of English, film critic and scholar of children’s literature.
